Friends of Montgomery Hills is excited to welcome garage punk rock act Apollo 66 to the Street Fest 2024 stage for the first time this year! Apollo 66 will be blowing the doors off the Fest as its opening act during the 3:15-4:00 PM timeslot!
Formed in 2016 and based in the Washington DC, area, Apollo 66 plays garage punk rock ‘n’ roll to help you forget about the coming apocalypse, and stomp your feet, clap your hands, and shout “Wooo!” Their music fits somewhere in the space-time-continuum of the Sonics, the Cramps, Misfits, Dick Dale and Link Wray with an occasional touch of Beatles-inspired harmonies
(although with considerably less talent and professionalism, but with just enough enthusiasm to
make it work).
Apollo 66 will be releasing their first full-length album in the winter of 2024. They released their first self-titled 5-song EP in early 2021 and their 4-song EP, “We Could Be Gone,” in September 2022. Both EPs are available on Bandcamp and most streaming services. The band has also released a number of bootleg style recordings of their live shows. Their music has been featured on college, internet, and community radio stations in the Washington, DC area, New York,
California, Massachusetts, and Florida, among other places. In April 2021 they performed and recorded a live 4-song set for The Rodent Hour sessions with Matt Attack on Radio Free Brooklyn (New York). They have performed at a number nightclubs in the MidAtlantic and outdoor venues including Fort Reno Park in Washington, DC in 2017, HampdenFest (Baltimore, MD) in 2019 and Honfest (Baltimore, MD) in 2022 and Woodmoorstock in 2022 and 2024. Since 2018, the band has hosted a monthly garage punk rock night in Silver Spring,
MD, that features mostly local and occasional touring bands.
Apollo 66 are Travis Hodges (Guitar/Vocals), Alex Morse (Bass Guitar/Vocals) and Jeremy Markowitz (Drums). They are occasionally joined by Kris Andtell (Tambourine, vocals).
